Meet Barron

Barron Casteel is a lifelong resident of Comal County and lifelong conservative.

Barron graduated from Canyon High School before heading off to Baylor for college and law school. After finishing, he returned home and started the local law firm of Casteel and Casteel alongside his mother and sister. Today, Casteel and Casteel serve the legal needs of families in Comal and Hays Counties and beyond.

He served two terms as Mayor of New Braunfels. During that time, he earned a reputation as a fiscal watchdog and champion for taxpayers, working to ensure efficient completion of city projects and government transparency. At the height of the COVID-19 lockdowns, Barron made sure that small businesses were allowed to remain open, and no city mask mandates were put in place.

Since completing his time as Mayor, Barron remains active in local community service as a member of the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce Blue Coats, a member of the Elks Lodge, an Opa with the Wurstfest Association, and a member of the Wurstfest board. He has also served on the Sophienburg Museum and Archives and New Braunfels ISD Educational Boards. Barron is a Rotarian and a past president of the New Braunfels Rotary Club and past president of the New Braunfels Education Foundation and the YMCA of Comal County.

Barron makes his home in New Braunfels with his wife Michele, a retired school counselor with the New Braunfels ISD. They became parents through the gift of adoption and have two sons, Jace and Hudson, who are currently enrolled in NBISD public schools.
