He served two terms as Mayor of New Braunfels. During that time, he earned a reputation as a fiscal watchdog and champion for taxpayers, working to ensure efficient completion of city projects and government transparency. At the height of the COVID-19 lockdowns, Barron made sure that small businesses were allowed to remain open, and no city mask mandates were put in place.

Since completing his time as Mayor, Barron remains active in local community service as a member of the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce Blue Coats, a member of the Elks Lodge, an Opa with the Wurstfest Association, and a member of the Wurstfest board. He has also served on the Sophienburg Museum and Archives and New Braunfels ISD Educational Boards. Barron is a Rotarian and a past president of the New Braunfels Rotary Club and past president of the New Braunfels Education Foundation and the YMCA of Comal County.
